You Rock, Valentine!

Good Morning, friends!

oh wait…its not morning! where does the day go…or the week, for that matter??!!
i figured since it was inching towards V-day, i should do some kind of holiday-ish post. if you’ve been reading for a while, then you’ve already seen this:

these were the Valentines we made last year. you can see the full run-down here.

wanna see this year’s?? they’re kinda along the same lines…maybe i should try to break out a new color scheme! :)

i find it challenging to make valentines that are suitable for the Boy to hand out….and one that the Boy will approve of!

but once i mentioned Pop Rocks, i think he was sold!
simple…but what kiddo wouldn’t be excited to get some Pop Rocks?

i found 3 Pop Rocks in a package for $1.29 at Walgreens. but i think the Dollar Store has them 3 for $1.00.

i used these bags from the craft store. they are 4″ by 5″, and the perfect size to fit a package of Pop Rocks.
(see below for more details on the printable file)
if i get some time, there is a festive and simple Valentine’s recipe that i might try to post.
but for now, i think i might turn in for the night. mornings come as fast as the days go by (does that even make sense??)

***UPDATE  01/02/12:
if you were interested in printing these valentines, i’ve attached the PDF below.  i’ve tried a number of different ways to attach this file to this post, so i hope this works.  i am unable at this time to respond to individual emails and requests to share the file, so i’m sorry if you are unable to get it to work, but this is my best effort at sharing it with you.  if you have any other suggestions for me on how to share this easily, i’d love to hear them!  for now, here’s the PDF:
i’ll also attach it as an image below so that you can just click it and save it to your computer to print, and then have your child fill in his or her name:

life…and a new love

life is returning to a semi-normal state, although our normal now looks very different…but i’m not complaining! we are loving our “new” life here at the beach!

we had one of the most relaxing weekends we’ve had in months, without much on the agenda.

we are still enjoying basketball season:

and canaan is getting the hang of the game:
and taking every opportunity possible to make some “jump shots!”

we also spent a little bit of time down on the beach.
who says you can’t go in the ocean in the winter?

we loved having our dear friends over to play in the backyard :)

and i have to show you a new purchase. it is life-changing. Meet my Swiffer Vac:

now that i am not dealing with carpets, this tool has proved already to be worth its weight in gold. it makes cleaning up my bamboo and tile floors a breeze!

and to close…can you believe that Valentine’s Day is a week away?? wasn’t it just Christmas??

Canaan had to make a box for school to hold his Valentines. this is what we came up with using a cereal box. i think he did a pretty great job!
well…i admit that this is kinda a weak post, but its all i got for right now. the bug is hungry, and a hungry, inching towards naptime 3 1/2 year old on a very rainy day could be a bad combination!

i’ll be back with something more worthy before too long! :) i’m gonna try to post some Valentine’s Day things….so check back!

WELCOME…

….to our new home!

we are so excited that we get to live here. we love every nook and cranny of this little place.

thanks for being excited for us too. your comments have been awesome and encouraging! really…an answered prayer! we still feel guilty about getting to live here. i know, in light of the Good News, that i shouldn’t. but we do. and you guys being excited with us just reminds us of what a gift this is from God.

anyway…ready for a tour of our place??

The Kitchen:
although smaller than my previous one, its actually much nicer and more user friendly. i love being in here!
i couldn’t live without a chalkboard. maybe i’ll do a tutorial soon on how we came up with this one!
i was so worried about cabinet storage in here, but once we moved in, i actually had to go back and get more kitchen stuff out of storage! and i still have more room!
we turned the linen closet into a pantry, cause that was a necessity, and its awesome! our linens have now found a very nice resting spot in an extra dresser in the kiddos room. works perfectly!
here’s the main room:
our dining area:
our main family room:

the only new piece of furniture we bought was this coffee table, thanks to my sweet friend, Donna! i LOVE it, and its exactly what i’ve been looking for for about 4 years. (no joke!)
our back room/sunroom/porch:

remember these rockers that i pulled out of the garbage? they were made for this room!

our Master Bedroom:
(excuse the storage under the bed…i need a longer bedskirt! i’m in the market for a cheap one, so let me know if anyone knows where to get one with a 19 inch or so drop!)

our view from the bedroom:
no more walk in closet for us, but thanks to the closet organization we did a few months back, we were ready for a smaller space. i think it all fits just right!
The Kiddos Room:
they are sharing this room, and so far, its been a blast for them. the bed is a trundle, so Bella bug sleeps on the bottom, and Canaan boy sleeps on the top. Bella loves it so much that she has been ASKING to go to bed the last few nights! i think its super sweet that they get to share a room during this stage of life!
i had to get some new bedding, to make it a unisex room, but thanks to Home Goods and Ross Clearance sections, i was able to score some massive deals! i just love how it turned out!

(the small frames on the sides of the window are their initials written in the sand)

and, just for fun, i’ll show you our storage situation.
here’s the laundry room:
and i LOVE LOVE LOVE this little nook! its the kiddos toy closet.
and the back has a little cranny for our beach stuff:
i think the verse on our chalkboard speaks our hearts today pretty well. He’s been so unbelievably, abundantly sweet to us. we are so thankful! and its such a privilege to get to tell all of you of “His Wonderful Acts!”
we are living a dream….and hoping that we get to stay here for a long time!

maybe now that we’re settled i can return to some normal blogging!

so see you soon,
