11 Years

To my husband:
August 1996:  I fell head over heels
Summer 2000:  You fell head over heels  (it took you long enough :)
March 2001:  You proposed.  I cried.  (and said a resounding Yes!)
August 2001:  We Married.  In the most beautiful beach wedding….right on the same stretch of beach that we look out on everyday.  who would’ve ever thought????
But…I have a feeling that the best is yet to come!!!
You are the best man that God could’ve ever chosen for me.  I am forever grateful for His mercy and grace on our marriage.  He is too good to us!!!  Happy 11th Anniversary!
you stole my heart when i was just 15, and you steal my heart now at 31.  i’ll love you until I take my last breath!
XOXO

Olympics…around here

i don’t know about your family, but our’s is in full on Olympic mode over here!!

it kinda started back in April with the Boy’s Olympics B-day party, which just got us super excited for London 2012 to finally get here.  and since its arrival, its added so much excitement to our house!

i was down at the beach doing a photo shoot the other day, and the kiddos tagged along.  i glanced over and just happened to catch them right in the middle of performing their own opening ceremonies:

and then they came out one morning decked out in USA unis.  they coordinated this all by themselves:

is it odd that we just have all that USA stuff lying around?  but i’m happy that those Olympic tshirts are getting lots of use around here!

apparently these are their “game faces:”

synchronized diving is one of their favorite events.  after watching the USA women take silver in the event, my crazies attempted to make up their own dives:

(don’t pay any attention to the fact that Canaan has outgrown all his PJ pants…or the fact that he’s wearing Bella’s shirt.  whatever works!)

i caught Canaan in full on googles the other day, attempting to dive into the pool that has apparently crept its way into our living room, cause i have often over the last few days seen little swimmers practicing their strokes all over my floor:

i guess he was accepting his gold medal here:

Canaan is BEGGING me to send this to London so the newscasters can give this to Lochte when they interview him.  i can’t quite explain to him that that is much easier said then done.

(and if you are, like me, wondering what is around Lochte’s head…its his swim cap.  just thought i’d clear up any confusion :)

Ping pong has also been a favorite.  they attempt to recreate the way the Olympians serve.  its quite funny to watch, and if i were tech savvy, i’d show you a video of the Bug doing her best to be a professional ping pong player.  its quite funny.

sometimes i catch them just sitting quietly, watching the events…

until the USA does something amazing and the quiet is no longer!

i took a little time off from editing vacation photos to finish up some photos from some shoots that i’ve recently done.  oh….and i’m pretty sure i’d be lying if i told you that i wasn’t absorbed in these Olympic games too!  so when the pics are all finished, i’ll be sure to share!

go Team USA!!!

Homemade Uncrustables

we are presently on a road trip with the crazies, and i feel like i needed a vacation just from the packing and planning process!
we packed up the car:
loaded up the crazies, with their Camelbak Water Bottles:
and found out that we had a dead car battery!
kinda laughable, but better to happen at that point then on the Interstate out in the middle of nowhere!
but anywhere, the real reason for this post…
in an effort to save money while out and about in our first destination of Washington DC, we decided to try to pack our lunch everyday.  so before we left home, i made these:

and thought that i’d pass along the idea to you.  obviously, its not an original, but i wanted a way to pack a clean eating lunch that would last for a long day in the city.  before starting our new food plan, i would buy these in the freezer section of stores for a quick and easy lunch while traveling.  but i figured i could make them myself, and eliminate some of the stuff we are trying to avoid.  they are also less expensive this way!

just in case any of you are traveling too this summer, i thought this might come in handy.

i got The Pampered Chef Cut N Seal Sandwich Press as a wedding gift as apart of a Pampered Chef basket.  i bet you could easily find one if you don’t have one, but i think you could also use a cookie cutter or a biscuit cutter, or even the rim of a glass.  you can seal the edges with a fork, and i think it would work the same way!

once they were cut out, i put them in individual ziploc bags and froze them.  most hotel rooms have a little freezer where you can keep them, or you can keep them in a cooler on ice.  we were staying with friends so we just kept them in their freezer.  i would throw them in the backpack in the morning, and by lunch time they were perfectly unfrozen.
we’d find a bench and eat our lunch of uncrustables, apples and oranges, and maple almonds, saving us money and time to hit all we wanted to hit in the city!

i’ll be back to tell you more about touring Washington DC with kids!
