the first few weeks
to say we are loving life with this precious new addition would be an understatement. we are consumed by her. its hard to put her down. people come over to visit and as soon as they leave, we are anxious to get our own hands back on her. we miss her when we aren’t the ones holding her! i know there will be a day when i’m gonna have to let her nap in her crib, but its just so much fun for now to let her nap in my arms! (i’m sure that’s gonna get old, but i have to enjoy it while i can!)
i’m slowly sifting through all the pictures from her first two weeks, so i’m posting a few today. we had a friend who is an amazingly talented professional photographer (you might remember her from here) come over last weekend and take family photos, so once i get my hands on those, i’ll be sure to share! but for now, enjoy a quick glimpse into our life the last few weeks!
Berkeley is a tiny peanut, just like her sister.
her last weigh in was at 2 days old, and she clocked in at 5 pounds 14 ounces. she is tiny! we go tomorrow to have her weighed at her 2 week appointment, and i can’t wait to see what she’s up to!
Jake captured this shot in the hospital of her getting her footprints made:
she pretty much captured our hearts right away:
everyone keeps saying how much she resembles her big sister. they do have similar mannerisms too! i happened to catch this the other day:
this kid’s hair is my favorite! i know it won’t always be like this, but i’m loving the craziness of it!
i’m usually not a huge fan of obnoxiously large headbands on a small little head, but i do love this picture. almost all of Berkeley’s headbands are huge on her little body at the moment, so we are making do. but i’m sure she’ll grow into them before we know it.
my girls were catching up on their day the other afternoon after Bella got home from school. i anticipate many many years of girl talk!
i might be opening up a can of worms by mentioning this, but we are big fans of the book Baby Wise. it just works for our family, and although there are some things i don’t love about the book, i think the general concept is amazing. i do NOT believe its the only way to parent, or even the best for everyone, but we love it and fully intend to use it for Berkeley. both Canaan and Bella were “Baby Wise Babies” and sleeping through the night by 9 weeks, which God knows i need, because when momma is tired, i honestly cannot function nor be the mom that i need to be for my kids. i am hopeful that Berkeley adapts just as well, and as it seems she’s already put herself on a schedule, i’m hopeful that she might just be the easiest one yet…we’ll see! i am refreshing myself on it this week, and maybe one day soon i’ll post a mini-Baby Wise tutorial…what we’ve implemented, what we’ve done differently from the book, and how its seriously changed our family
i picked up this Moby Wrap at a garage sale for $3.00, and it might be the best $3 i’ve ever spent. Berkeley loves it, i love it, and i’m thinking it’ll be perfect for being on the sidelines of Canaan’s football games this fall.
and…these precious, but very energetic ones, headed back to school. i am usually very sad for school to start, but the timing this year was perfect, as it has allowed Berkeley and I to adjust to life together without the busyness and noise that summer brings we miss them during the day though, and i swear that Berkeley lights up when they come home.
thanks for letting me share my fam with you! planning to come back to finish up some of those sewing tutorials for you,
