not quite Potty Barn…

i figured i needed to do some kind of Thanksgiving post, given that we are only 2 days away, so here it is!

these pictures are from last year’s celebration. i’m kinda laughing at myself and the photography from last year, and its making me really fall in love all over again with my newer prime lens! well anyway…i digress.

thankfully, i am not hosting again this year. Although i really do enjoy planning and prepping for these kinds of things, there is just too much going on around here to pull all that together, so i will happily be enjoying the feast at someone else’s house! but i will be cooking some of my fave recipes tomorrow, so i’ll try my very best to share those with you!

you know by now how we roll around here…everything was on the cheap and homemade. (i can only drool over and dream about my table one day looking like those on the cover of Pottery Barn or Martha Stewart!! but for now, $.99 tissue balls, flowers picked from the yard, and plastic yard chairs borrowed from my in-laws church are the best we could do!)

so here’s to a real Homemade Thanksgiving!

every place setting had an different icebreaker question that each guest answered during dinner. it definitely brought lots of laughter and insight, as well as a few (good) tears!!
here’s a link to our list of icebreaker questions in case you are interested! alot of them were originally given to me to ask our kids around the dinner table, but you can weed through them for adults too. (this is my first time linking to a document, so let me know if it works!)
this was the kids’ table. they loved drawing on the tablecloth with their crayons while they drank out of “real” glasses and ate on “real” plates!
as for this year, we’ll be enjoying this week with our little pilgrims:
this one had a school Thanksgiving performance that was just adorable! here he is peeking out from behind the scenes right before the performance began, just to make sure he had my full attention!
and i’ll also be doing lots of cooking with the cutest little naked chef on the planet!
really trying to make it back tomorrow with some recipes, but i’m not promising anything!!

hoping you enjoy your holiday!

and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, may i just tell you how unbelievably grateful i am for those of you who faithfully read this little blog?? i know you are out there, and i’m just continually blown away by you and your encouragement to me!! so thanks for all the support and comments!
