talented…
today i’m going to brag on my hubby’s talented family. i mentioned a bit ago that i married into the most creative family on the planet! its really true…and it pretty much started with my husband’s grandma, was passed down to my mother in law, and then to her two daughters. then my brother in law happened to marry a very talented, creative girl, and there you have it…a whole clan for me to learn from!!
so today…i want to show you a few things that they came up with for the bug’s birthday. first off…my husband’s grandma, Grandma Jacquie, sent this amazing, hand painted (by her) set of doll house furniture. i am dying over the cuteness of these mini creations!!
Bella is presently using them in her new Melissa & Doug Wooden Princess Castle (thanks to her Great Aunt Rosie)
i think mommy might have been a tad bit more excited than the bug when she opened this one (and she was pretty excited herself!)…as i’m a sucker for those M&D wooden toys!
but i think we’ll have to put a handcrafted doll house on the “to-do” list for my father in law…who can pretty much create anything too!!
and a quick mention about my mother in law…who could have her own post one day (and probably will) with all the talent she possesses! but she has pretty much taught me everything i know about sewing (which isn’t too much, but she knows everything…i just can’t quite do what she does!!!) she has made all of our nursery and kids’ rooms bedding, as well as many other things around my house. go here to see some of the things she has sewn for the bug’s room…
next up…my sister in law, Leanna. yes…we share the same name…just spelled differently! anyway…she sewed this dress for bella, out of a pillowcase!
and then she just decided that she would try her hand at some hand-embroidery. would you believe this was her very first attempt??? ridiculous perfection!!! i’m just so in love with it!
moving on to May, my brother-in-law’s wife, who came up with this crazy new idea!!
she handpainted these plates for bella with the faces of all the boys from my husband’s side of the family!
i laugh everytime i look at them! and plus…its so fun to get to tell my brother in law that i ate dinner on his face last night!!
didn’t she do a great job?? i think it captures the boy SO well!!
the plates have been a BIG hit in our house! i’m thinking that we might have to add to the collection and have a whole set, with all the girls’ faces too!
she also included this vintage placemat that she found at Good Will. i want to frame it and put it in bella’s room!
and i can’t leave out my final sis-in-law, Becky. she is about the most amazing seamstress i’ve ever known. she got all of my mother-in-law’s talent in that area!! the things she cranks out of the sewing machine are perfection…literally. she could sell them and no one would even know its handmade…there is not one single thread that is crooked or out of place!! she went a different route for the bug’s birthday and bought her the most adorable, mini-but-looks-like-adult, pair of trendy sandals…for which i am so thrilled!! (and a cutey top to go with a fun skirt the bug has).
but for christmas, she sewed this robe for the boy…he refuses to shower without it…

i seriously am blessed beyond measure, getting to learn all these crafty things from my own family! i think i married into the right place…God for sure knew my passions, but also knew that i need great teachers!!!
before i leave you for the day…i want to give you a heads up about a post coming up. so gather up these supplies…
and get ready for an amazingly cool way to share the Gospel/Easter Story with your kiddos!! tutorial and pictures coming tomorrow!!
okay…and for one last piece of big news…we’ll be adding a new addition to this creative fam because I’M PREGNANT!!!
APRIL FOOLS!!! totally kidding!!!! i’m sure i just gave my fam a heart attack!!
laughing at myself,
